Raytown-Lee’s Summit Community Credit Union believes that educating children about financial fitness is the best way to ensure their future with financial success. That is why Raytown-Lee’s Summit Community Credit Union continues to strive to provide a program about the history of money, money basic saving and deposits.
Money management is a lifelong skill. There’s is no better time to start teaching than at a young age. Economic education is provided by local financial institutions and educators to teach young adults the value of money and saving for the future.
The program works by giving third graders classroom lessons and hands- on in handling and saving money. A six week lesson curriculum guide is provided free in the participating schools.
Each school is teamed up with a local financial institution, and at least once a week institutions representatives will come to the school and help the children open their own accounts and make deposits.

For the past ten years Raytown-Lee’s Summit Community Credit Union has had the privilege of being a sponsor of Youth Friends. Youth Friends is a unique volunteer mentoring program for area business men and women to mentor school children. Since the program started in 1995, Youth Friends has had over 580 volunteers contribute 25,000 hours mentoring to 6,700 students. Youth Friends is not a requirement for our staff; however, our staff chooses to give up their personal lunch hours to be a lunch buddies. Spending time with these children and working on issues, such as problem solving, active listening, and social skills is an honor for participating staff.
